DIRECTOR'S PERSPECTIVE 2025

DIRECTOR'S PERSPECTIVE 2025

At the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation, we believe meaningful impact is driven by investing in people. In 2025, we worked alongside the leaders and partners closest to Idaho’s most complex challenges. This was a year of growth and refinement as we strengthened relationships and remained focused on supporting partner organizations with outstanding leadership.

We accelerate opportunities by supporting leaders and partners who are building pathways to learning, community, and leadership throughout Idaho. Our role is consistent across this work: we listen, we support, and we stay engaged to help create the conditions where people and communities can thrive.

In Idaho, talented leaders and organizations are working to improve learning access and outcomes for students and families. Through partners such as Bluum, Teach For America -Idaho, and Idaho Ed News, we invest in school leaders, educators, and data-driven insights that strengthen Idaho’s education system and support informed decision-making.

Our work in community wellbeing and accessible recreation reflected the importance of collaboration. Through the Challenged Athletes Foundation-Idaho, we support accessible and adaptive recreation opportunities for people of all abilities and continue to invest in shared spaces like the Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse. Alongside this work, we partnered with organizations addressing behavioral health needs for Idaho’s youth. Together, these efforts support wellbeing and connection to our communities.

Supporting talented leaders in Idaho is a huge driver of our work. We empower veterans and military spouses through Mission43 as they pursue employment, continued education for career advancement, and meaningful ways to connect and serve. By investing in people at critical moments, we aim to strengthen Idaho’s culture, economic future, and overall quality of life.

We are grateful for the partners and leaders who continue to shape Idaho’s future, and look forward to the work still ahead.

2025 HIGHLIGHTS

2025 HIGHLIGHTS

BUILT FOR WHAT COMES NEXT

The Idaho Outdoor Fieldhouse was built to support veterans, military spouses, and adaptive athletes as they prepare for what comes next. As the shared home of Mission43 and Challenged Athletes Foundation - Idaho, the Fieldhouse brings people together for training, connection, and shared purpose. In 2025, these communities turned the Fieldhouse into a place of momentum, achieving meaningful results and building a culture grounded in commitment and resilience. The work happening here shows what is possible when people are given a place designed to meet their effort with opportunity.

COLLABORATION MAKES CHANGE POSSIBLE

The Women’s & Children’s Alliance, Children’s Home Counseling, and Idaho Youth Ranch have come together in a first-of-its-kind collaboration to strengthen mental health care for children and families across Idaho. Drawing on more than two centuries of combined experience, these organizations are aligning their expertise, sharing resources, and focusing on long-term solutions that expand access to care and reduce barriers for those who need it most. Their work reflects what becomes possible when collaboration replaces competition and partners work together so children receive care sooner, families face fewer barriers, and communities grow healthier over time. This is an investment in Idaho’s children, families, and future.

EXPANDING ACCESS TO IDAHO'S OUTDOORS

Idaho's outdoor spaces are changing in permanent ways so people of all abilities can participate. Through collaboration with the Southwest Idaho Mountain Bike Association (SWIMBA), Challenged Athletes Foundation - Idaho, and adaptive athletes themselves, new mountain bike trails were built to remove barriers and expand who can fully participate in outdoor recreation. By combining trail-building expertise with lived experience, this work shows how access can be built into the landscape from the start. The result is more than recreation; it is lasting opportunity to enjoy Idaho’s outdoors.
